About

Shea Jarrah Evans, 23, writer of hopeful merit. Working on a novel based on my time in the circus.

Me, my writing, and a travelling circus.

Welcome to my blog, Shea’s Days! I’m here to spit brain vomit. The basic idea is that by writing a little bit here every day I’ll be able to loosen up my writing muscles and be more productive when it comes to the rest of my creative time. I’m using this blog to clear the cobwebs, so to speak, to help me with my first novel, which is a book based on the year I spent living, working, and travelling in The Great Moscow Circus.

I write short stories, poetry, and long form fiction. My writing has had several short listings and honourable mentions, including in the Sydney Writers Room Short Story Competition, the Questions Writing Prize, and the NYC Midnight Short Story Competition.

I’m a content writer for Navigator, a blog based out of the University of Newcastle (where I also study). I wrote for Yak Magazine, based at the same university, for a period of two years. During this time I was (briefly) also Vice President of the Writers Club on campus, and Creative Director and Co-founder of The Newcastle Flame, a live storytelling event.

Currently I support my writing and university studies by working in a bar, which is a great way of finding inspiration for new stories. I also find inspiration in the many jobs I’ve worked in the past, which include lumberjacking as well as a travelling circus.

I’m not sure what this blog will look like, it’s really just to get me typing, but if you’re here then I hope it finds you well.
